Exactly.
Not only that, but Sutter was just hired by Treliving, or the owners or whoever you like to believe hired him. Conventional wisdom says the GM hires the coach. This is pretty much accepted throughout the hockey world. So if the organization is about to can Treliving, wouldn’t you think this puts Sutter in a tenuous spot?
I can see a scenario where, after next season, if the Flames continue to disappoint, a new GM could come in with one year left on Sutters contract and then make the call.
Despite all the criticism and disappointment levied towards Treliving, all indications are Treliving is here to stay, for now.
