I wouldn't say I've become a fan of any of those Republicans, but when you're facing an existential threat you look for common allies from all backgrounds and ideologies.
Honestly, I wouldn't shed a tear if the Republican party just consumed itself with all this infighting, but then I worry about what would come out of that process. I could see a split party leading to even more extremism with the moderates forming their own party or even coming over to the Democrats (since truly the democrats are a centrist party anyway). It would probably lead to a very loud minority caucus for the foreseeable future, but you'd still get some red states electing bat#### crazy governors and legislations. Federally, they would lose a LOT of elections if they fractured the party even a little bit. They can barely win federal elections as it is, which is why you're seeing so much voter suppression in each state.
Or, maybe I'm wrong and a fractured right with consistent federal election losses will lead to the extremists losing their power over time and a moderate right party will emerge again. One dares to dream.
