I am absolutely without questions rooting for losses. The NHL rewards losing and the higher the pick we get the odds of us being better in the future goes up. We are missing the playoffs, there is literally nothing to play for, there is no winning culture in the locker room to cultivate or maintain and it's a group of players that won't be together ever again, what exactly is there to gain by winning right now. There is no pride on the line as that was lost long ago with this group of players.
I am a fan of the Flames and I want to see a team that legitimately contends for a cup. The only way to do that is through amassing as many top picks as possible. I don't see it as a badge of honor to proudly display that "I will never cheer for a loss", because quite simply I guarantee that Penguins fans, or Blackhawks fans or Capitals fans wouldn't go back in time and trade those critical losses that put them in position to draft Crosby, Kane or Ovechkin for a meaningless late season, out of the playoffs, win. I know if I had that type of player coming down the pipeline, the possibility of increasing my odds of getting that player greatly greatly exceeds my need to see the Flames beat the Canucks in a meaningless game.
