He’s 6’3 215 and has played over 600 games for us without throwing a single big hit. He’s consistently been one of the worst defensive players in the entire league. He’s a lazy one dimensional player even when healthy and teams have figured out how to mostly shut him down.
So is he as bad as he showed this year? No but you still need to move him

Sean Monahan has made his career finishing off gift-wrapped opportunities from Johnny Gaudreau.
Johnny Gaudreau takes more hacks, slashes and abuse than anyone on this team. Has been the case since he got here.
Monahan has never once done a single thing to take up for Gaudreau. Not a spear, not a slash, not a headlock, not a takedown, not a sucker punch, not a cross check, nothing.
He will watch the franchise meal ticket get his hands broken and skate to the bench. Why would he do anything? It’s been clear for several years that opponents have zero respect for Monahan - they know he’s soft and weak, and they laugh at him for it. Read some lips during scrums - ain’t nobody sweating when Sean Moneyhands enters the fray.
Jarome Iginla would have beaten the piss out of a player once a season just to remind the league what happens if they trifle with Gaudreau. And certainly he would have fought more intimidating people than Ryan Nugent Hopkins.
It’s one thing to say it’s a different game and time etc but it’s wholly unacceptable for Monahan to have never once had his benefactor’s back in 516 games. There have been reasons to go in 514, and Monahan refuses because... I don’t know why.
Get out.
