I highly doubt they're talking replacement at this time. (Or technically resurfacing in the case of the Birmingham) if that's the case he's done. Pro athletes have tried to continue after this but it has never lasted long. There's on nba player that played for a bit. Ed Jovanovski played about 30 games and Andy Murray, the tennis player is currently trying.

Most likely labral tear or something like that.

Edit. And team says he'll be ready to go for training camp. Hip replacement or resurfacing takes 6 months minimum to be ready for that which would keep him sidelined until November.
