We have lots of draft picks- we just don’t have any 1sts. Which are lottery tickets anyway.
Spend them on players. Once you have Eichel and Lindholm As your top 2 centres for the next four years and presumably beyond, the players you can get for your picks become more valuable than the picks themselves.
Championship teams aren’t won by kids. They’re won by stars surrounded by veterans who know what they’re doing. When they do get contributions from youth, it’s from obscure players who find a way to mesh with Sidney Crosby for three months before being sold for scraps.
That’s how this game is played. We need to Quit relying on 18 year olds who were poor eighteen months ago.
Get Jack Eichel. Play him with Johnny Gaudreau. See how they look. Make moves accordingly.
Basically play to win. That’s all I’m asking.
