It also examines the role the media played in the whole saga (both good and bad) as well as the relationship between the authorities and the newspapers (in particular).
Im only 2 parts through the 4 part series, but if you have any kind of fascination with true crime stories, police competance, the role of the occult in things, and the ramblings of a madman, this thing will hook you.

Agreed, we watched the first two episodes last night.
I'm not a crime guy, but my wife likes that stuff.
I actually enjoyed it, even though it is a fukcing morbid topic.
