And a whole new generation of Oiler fans are coming up because of McDavid. That is absolutely disgusting. It’s a disgrace. But it’s reality. Why would any kid cheer for the Flames? They don’t win. They have no players you can’t find on other teams. They have absolutely no appeal.
I’m in too deep to quit but if someone asked me what team they should start cheering for I wouldn’t say the Flames. I’d spare that poor soul.
I’ve been alive for almost 30 damn years and these buffoons have been out of the first round of the playoffs only twice. Twice. In my entire lifetime. Meanwhile I’ve seen multiple teams win multiple Stanley Cups, and not always with the same core.
This organization is rotten from top to bottom. It’s time to gut them. I would fire literally every single person outside of our amateur scouts and Sutter. Every one of them. Gone. Bye John Bean (who the hell is John Bean anyway?). Bye Treliving. Bye Don Maloney (what is it you even do here?). Bye Conroy. Bye Cassie Campbell’s husband.
Of course that won’t happen. They’ll sell low and continue to get garbage draft picks or sneak in as an 8th seed. But I’m so sick of it. Just a truly difficult, embarrassing, and pathetic team to cheer for. I’m so sick of it. Please, for the love of God commit to a full rebuild already.

Well said and 110% accurate. I was 3 when the Flames won the cup, have no recollection, started cheering for this team pre young guns era, the Theo Fleury and Ed Whalen days. I remember my first NHL game in 96 when the Flames beat the Avs on HNIC, where I was when Iggy scored his first NHL goal in the playoffs vs Chicago. Then the 7 year drought came and kids naturally gravitated to good teams (Detroit, Colorado, Dallas, etc.), but I was to naive to know any better and stuck to this sad sack organization. 25 years later, outside of one magical run, this franchise hasn't provided one lick to the fan base. I cant honestly think of a worse franchise to be so emotionally invested in, the Browns? Sabres? I've caught myself watching damn baseball this season over Flames hockey. Over time both the league and the organization has taken away the spirit and enthusiasm for the league and sport. Hopefully one day before my day comes things change but until then, I won't be spending a cent on this franchise.
