I don't know. Despite that article's obvious bias, it seems apparent that the Habs had a number of unfair advantages in addition to the French Canadian option. The few facts given go directly against the narrative.

And the article doesn't even mention the 50 mile rule, which gave Montreal a huge advantage over teams like Detroit and Chicago.
