Didn't Scott Niedermeyer also shun Calgary?
I am sure it happens to other small market teams. There are examples of players that like it. Regehr didn't want to leave and had to be talked into it. Glencross didn't want to play anywhere else. If the team was competitive, I don't think keeping Iginla would have been an issue. Joel Otto left but then settled in Calgary after retiring.
