I have a son and a daughter.

I try to teach my son about consent and how women should be treated and not be treated. What to do in certain situations etc. I have put him in self-defence/MMA classes.

I try to teach my daughter about consent as well and what behaviour is appropriate and what is not (if someone behaves a certain way with her). Who to reach out to if ever in a certain situation etc. I have put her in self-defence/MMA classes.

I don't believe such a utopian world exists or has the chance of existing in this lifetime. All we can do is educate our kids and hope that we have done our best as parents to build a better world.

The fact is that from a biological standpoint - women have on average smaller builds and men have larger builds. There are plenty of messed up men out there that are more than willing to take advantage of this fact. All the teaching in the world isn't going to convince quite a few of these people.

One time I travelled to Colombia in my younger years and was robbed at gunpoint. I was somewhere I should not have been at a time where I should not have been. At the end of the day, you should try not to leave your personal security in the hands or decision-making of other people. You'll quickly realize how poor of a judgement other people have.
