I agree with everything that Cali stated in his post, but with another point or two to add:
1) Kylington is the most 'modern' NHL defencemen in the system. Fast skater, hard slap shot, great wrister, etc.
2) This team has become a very low-scoring team from the defence, and Kylington MAY end up becoming someone that helps in that regard.
Now, am I sure that giving him a lot of rope will turn him into an important piece? I have no idea. The only thing that I am 100% positive about is that not playing him is guaranteed to make him fail.
Is Nesterov going to be re-signed? I doubt it. I think Kylington should get all of Nesterov's minutes. Is there someone else that isn't going to be re-signed next season? Stone 100% deserves his time that he is getting, but if he is not going to be re-signed, I think Mackey should be getting his minutes too.
I want to make sure that this organization doesn't leave a stone unturned in getting better for next season and beyond, and it should start with making sure that the players who are here in the organization get an opportunity to develop.
