Sounds like the 2021-2022 team will be the same group floundering around the playoff bubble once again. Tre (or the new GM) wont get value for these under performers in a player/player hockey trade so I doubt ANY of the core is moved. Won't trade em for futures if season tickets are the priority.

This franchise is going nowhere and it hurts my heart.

I think the Flames could make the playoffs next year and even win a round.
But we'll all know that it'll be an exception rather than the reality.
The Flames will come back to the mediocre equilibrium like they always do.

They're not willing to invest in the future to the extent required to become elite.
They're also not willing to be bad enough to tank or rebuild.

That just leaves mediocrity on a macro-sense. A few years here and there will be exceptions.
