In a vacuum maybe, but in hindsight it was foolish because the Flames weren’t done rebuilding yet. The Flames could’ve used the first pick to draft Mathew Barzal or Kyle Conner or Thomas Chabot and then there were 2 picks in an extremely deep second round that could’ve added more depth in the line up. Dougie Hamilton helped the Flames win zero playoff games. He was an unnecessary addition. I will say that the trade was much better then that garbage Hamonic trade which I hated right from the get go.
