I realize the equipment at the two clinics serves different functions, and I imagine all equipment is hella expensive, but It does seem vision testing equipment has lagged behind. Especially compare to say dentists who have a new arsenal every 5 year.
Rockyview equipment definitely lags behind but the basics of determining the prescription and binocular vision still need it. No electronic device has been able to achieve the precision of the subjective refraction (ie 1 or 2) as your prescription is not just the measurements there is a variability based on each individual.

The Southern AB eye Center is Ophthalmology. You are not there for a refraction it’s for a specific health reason. Many Optometry offices have similar equipment for screening.

I mean I just got a virtual reality visual field analyzer that’s pretty slick.
