Extreme statement to make after 10 games.

Haha. No, it’s a statement after 5 years
There has been the argument made for years now about the Flames not getting the most out of the player.
The argument has been that there should be more, but he wasn’t given the opportunity, linemates and stability. There is data that has been presented to support that. Ice time data, line mate (% of time with linemates).
The play driving metrics were there, even strength productivity per 60, playoff results. (Shows up in camp and is put on the 4th line… meanwhile guys like Leivo, Simon etc are gifted decent looks)
In the face of that data, people plug their ears and say ‘nuh uh, it’s on the player, he had his opportunities’.
The player himself in Calgary seems to settle in under Sutter, is quoted saying he thought he had more to give, enjoyed playing under Sutter etc.
Christ, the team bungled their highest ever draft pick for 5 years, and just when there was a glimmer of light, where the player has an actual competent NHL coach and is responding, Tre pulls the plug
So many people have a hypothesis that the player may succeed with a defined role, quality linemates, consistent linemates, good coaching
Look, I don’t expect him to keep up the pace of 1.37 points per game. It’s not about maintaining that level.
It’s about whether the Flames come out looking good. He has accomplished in 8 games there what he would in 30-40 here.
The Flames squandered their highest ever pick, mismanage it for 5 years.
Quenneville calls it a home run
And it’s “extreme” for me to say the Flames don’t come out of this looking good? This is a full on #### show
Frankly, I just have to laugh. Extreme. That’s silly
