Outside of 2019, this is team that is barely in or barely out of the playoffs...people cling to the hopes of 'anything can happen in the playoffs'... but outside of StL, is that really true? Maybe LAK's first year?

I don't know, if they want to tank and not win...this current bunch seems to be pretty good at doing just that. They're more or less locked into a top 10 pick as New Jersey has fallen really hard to the point where Buffalo might not have the best Lottery odds. The three California Teams have no interest in winning much. The Wings are playing better but they had an awful start and Columbus seems to have had enough of Torts. So that's 7 teams plus Ottawa to make it 8. Arizona might jockey a bit and maybe Chicago might fall a bit too. Play this current group and they likely mail in to a 2-6 finish at best. Bring up some kids who might care...they might go 4-4. If they go 2-6 and 49 points will make them one of the 8 worst teams in this league.
Really I think Vancouver is the team who died as badly as the Flames tonight. The Flames were a major long shot, but Vancouver could have got within 6 points with 5 extra games. 10 back for them is probably a bit much.
