Andersson's skating was one of the reasons he was taken at 53. Some scouts said his skating looked "heavy". He's improved over the years as his fitness level has improved, and while he's agile, and quick when he needs to be, he's no burner-not in the class of a Hanifin or Kylington,or even a Valimaki. There's several players on the team faster than him. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Andersson fan, and I want to keep him.
And the reason Kylington is not on the top pair has nothing to do with speed, it has to do with other attributes important to being an NHL defenseman-decision making, and play in the defensive zone.
