Assist on first goal, just a good stick.
Lots of zone entries, good sticks in the D-zone, and some nice passes setting up scoring chances. A few big hits, and created some scoring chances out of nothing (a tough angle backhand on the rush generated a juicy rebound). Lots of loose pucks in front of the net, it seemed like Sam was always in the neighbourhood.
He made an unremarkable play on the 2nd goal; skated the puck out of the zone and dumped in at the red line then went off for a change…the goal came about 7 seconds later…could’ve been a 3rd or 4th assist with a +.
Bennett always on PP1 and PK1. He and Barkov nearly scored SH in the 3rd…then the next unit did score SH. Then Bennett had a partial breakaway and hit the post on the same PK!
911 line was buzzing down the stretch (TIL nickname).
Q pulled the goalie in the final seconds of a tie game trying to get a regulation win to win the division Aho mugged Barkov on the ice for like 10 seconds with no call. Beauty no-look goal by Barkov early in OT.
No glaring mistakes by Sam; weak on the faceoff dot, but he helped turn at least 1 FO 'loss' into an odd-man rush.
Weegar looked fantastic…maybe a bit of an anomaly night, but he looks capable of filling Ekblad’s skates. Huberdeau and Barkov – so good. They might put up numbers like the dorks up north if they played 25 minutes a night in a crappy division.
Some combo of Canes/Cats/Bolts playoff series will be fun.

Weegar has gone from a bottom pair/7th dman to a top pairing guy in a single year. He's been incredible all year and is making Yandle superfluous.
And yeah, I've been sticking with this team through all the down periods purely because I believe in Barkov and Huberdeau to lead this team somewhere.
Another good game against a great team. This division is absolute murder this year with both the Lightning and Hurricanes playing so well.
