Monahan looked way more dangerous than Gaudreau. He for sure distributed the puck better. And that isn’t saying he looked dangerous.

With all due respect, that’s an extremely weak take. Gaudreau is basically the only player on this team who can cut east to west laterally and make plays. No other winger is even remotely dangerous in transition by comparison.
Also, I really wouldn’t be comparing Monahan to Gaudreau right now, outside of his empty net goal. His line has been a complete dud offensively. Actually, Monahan’s line is a big reason why this team isn’t getting enough goals right now. If he or his linemates potted just one goal in one of the last 2 games, maybe the Flames escape with a shootout win or an OT loss, but instead it’s zilch in 2. Gaudreau’s line has been the best performing unit out of anything I’ve seen in the last 5 games based on the eye test and the statistics.
