I'm certain teams would trade for him, no chance you let him walk. Not the first time a player had a bad season. Even then its 30 points in 44 games for a team that doesn't score.

I agree he has value but not anywhere near the contract you have to sign to keep him that’s the problem. He’s what, correlated to a 60 point player? What’s the market for that? $6mm? And you do have others that, when given his ice time will also produce but maybe not at the same clip. So let’s say you get a guy that puts up 30 points over an 82 game schedule. You should be thinking about not soaking up that extra cash in cap space if you can help it just to get an extra 30 pts.
Plus there’s all the other intangible stuff he’s now lacking too. So no, it’s not a slam dunk to not let him walk.
