Yeah, I seem to recall hearing a similar stat for Jagr and it was ridiculously high. Jagr even played 2 games against Guy Lafleur as their careers overlapped by a season.
Since the founding of the league, 8,096 players have played at least one regular season game in the NHL. 4,826 of those have played at least one game since the start of the 1990-91 season when Jagr's career started. 4,099 have played at least one NHL game since Marleau's career started in 1997-98.
