I'm still of the opinion the only player from the core the Flames should trade is Johnny. I think Monahan is the next Captain 9f this team once Gio rides off into the sunset.

I can’t speak to motivation, but it is a fact that Johnny wasn’t good for the first half of that game and then dialled it way up after the first goal, which happened to be Monahan’s.
I commented in the GT (or maybe earlier in the PGT) about how frustrating it is these days to see Johnny make those kinds of plays both offensively and back checking, because that just proves he can indeed do it if he wants.
