It is the Battle of Alberta. Maybe it doesn't mean anything to some people. Maybe you look at the standings, and see this as a meaningless game. I don't. I am still old enough to remember some of the wars. The Messier elbows. The Semenko knees to the head, and kicks (Kassian!).



No what it reminded me of? The Karate Kid. Flames were the good guys, Oilers the bad guys. The Oilers were Kobra Kai, and even their Sather resembled Kreese.


I don't care if the Oilers suck and the Flames are awesome, or vice versa. I want the Flames to beat the Oilers every game. On a crap season like this has been, there aren't many moments where you look forward to games, but the Battle of Alberta has always been games I look forward to, and always hope that the good guys in red win. The Oilers have always been a despicable bunch of cheats from their first owner down to their newest caveman they insist is a human.
