What do you mean, "we don't know"? We know with certainty that the Canucks have $64 m of salary commitments for next season with a full 10 roster spots to fill. Those include three open assignments on the blue line after Hughes's deal is signed. Even if Jay Beagle is "done," the Canucks cannot simply wish that contract away.

We don't know their plan, they have young talent still coming up, maybe they can make it work, Elias and Hughes take bridge deals, we don't know.

We don't know the plan, but we can clearly see that over $19 m of cap space is occupied by the likes of Antoine Roussell, Tyler Myers, Jake Virtanen and Braden Holtby. We also have a pretty well-established history of a GM who overpays for middle-roster players from which to guess about just how well this is all going to work out for Vancouver. They don't really have much choice at all but to sign Pettersson and Hughes to bridge deals, precisely because of how messed up their cap situation is already even after shedding Sutter, Beartschi and Edler, to say nothing for how these players will be replaced.

Some how the Canucks have built a team that is tied with the Flames in points while making garbage move after garbage move all the while the Flames knock their moves out of the park.
|
This is just a total mischaracterization of the chatter on this board. No one here is patting the Flames on the back for "knocking their moves out of the park."

Point being when certain posters crap on everything these teams do it wears thin, we get it, you hate them, offer some objectivity at some point otherwise the opinion loses value.

Look where you are. This is a Flames fan message board. You are not going to get much "objectivity" from this group about a rival team. But even saying that there is absolutely nothing wrong with Flames fans recognizing the Pearson contract is shortsighted, and probably a mistake. If you don't like it, feel free to make your way to a much more Canucks friendly forum—this isn't it.
