The Bennettdictines kill me. Always an excuse for this guy. Sam Bennett is a terrible hockey player. TERRIBLE. He does NOTHING above average, with the exception of be on the ice for goals being scored against his team. In that regard, he's one of the best in the league! Remove the Buffalo Sabres from the equation and he's a top 10 player in that regard. Beyond that, he does sweet #### all that contributes to actual measurable success.
And yes, $2.55M is a lot to pay for a guy that you can replace with a player at league minimum. The $1.85M you're over paying him actually pays for two more players just like him, with a little left over for the popcorn players of his skill level will consume during a season. So yeah, when you're actually properly running a hockey team, and its budget, overpaying a useless piece of crap is a pretty big deal. Especially when you're doing the same with Milan Lucic, but at an even greater scale or magnitude.
