If Pettersson gets anything other than a bridge I will be very shocked. Hell is be shocked if the plan was to ever give him anything other than a bridge.
He may very well end up being one of the best centers in the NHL. But he looked off all season in this strange covid year and, as you pointed out, has yet to remain healthy for any type of nhl season.
That said after the bridge you are likely throwing a max at him where as you may save some money on a long deal now.
