I'm a big believer in asset management over anything else, but for a special player like Gio, I think the club owes him the opportunity if he wants it. He may just choose to ride it out into the sunset in Calgary and that's OK too.

If you really wanted to read in to Stajan’s comments last game it’s not entirely impossible
First point is that Staj in the previous game said he and his family are really close with Gio. So he may know a bit more than he lets on
Then last game I thought he alluded to not knowing what was happening with the Flames, but could’ve sworn there was an ‘if’ the Flames wanted to give Gio an opportunity based on all he’s done for the organization
(This may or may not be Friedman level dirt mining)
