Well, doesn't this just confirm that "18 Year Old Playoff Sam Bennett" is a thing, then?
Makes less than half that Monahan makes as a cap hit. Less ice time. Less talented line mates to help him score. Less opportunity. Yet he produces at around the same level?
So are you trying to show that Bennett isn't very good in the playoffs, or that Monahan is terrible?
FWIW, I love Monahan still. Terrible year. Not sure about his injuries, but the entire team can't score right now. I am disappointed by his production in the playoffs for the most part, but I personally think that sometimes players take a lot of reps in the playoffs to perform. History shows a lot of these types - even franchise HHOF types like Datsyuk that took a while to 'figure it out' in the playoffs.
However, "18 Year Old Playoff Sam Bennett Moustache and Beard" is a thing that we should celebrate. One of the consistent bright spots in almost every playoffs series so far. His play, Brodie's play, and Monahan-Gaudreau on the PP - usually very effective, and some of the best moments in the playoffs. It is ok not to like Bennett, and wish he was traded or just claimed in the upcoming expansion draft, but there is no possible way you can deny that Bennett isn't an effective playoff performer, and having his stats so close to Monahan only makes him look even better IMO.
