I think the off-season goal was to have centre depth that read: Lindholm, Backlund, Bennett, Ryan. They failed to move Monahan for the RW piece they wanted, and the results are what they are.
That's a fairly disingenuous way to look at things.

How about career totals? You are comparing Anderson's best season to Monahan's worst. It's also less than half a season's sample size. Monahan's "possession" numbers are slightly better over their respective careers.

For some additional perspective if Josh Anderson was shooting at the same percentage Sean Monahan was this season he would be sitting with 12 points in 32 games...
