I think that getting Sutter in to coach Plan A was to light a fire under the core, sort of like he did in LA.
Now plan B is to play out the string and wait for the core to be changed to players that can be motivated to be better version of themselves.
Problem with that is that the trade value is going down. I wouldn't be surprised to see a few players Gaudreau, Monahan, Lindholm, Andersson shut down after the trade deadline to try to maintain their off season trade value.
I really can't see any team willing to pay a premium at the trade deadline to get these guys to get them through an extra playoff round.
