He did fill the need at G and I still think that was a good signing. After that, there was (and remains a hole at rw). If you can’t plug the hole at C (and yes, #1 C don’t grow on trees), then you look at the next biggest need, which is rh rw.
We crap all over Johnny and mony and deservedly so due to their performance. However, if you have a tofolli riding shotgun with them, maybe their okay elevates and we are having a different conversation. So failure to bring in a higher level rw falls at the feet of the gm, and certainly has contributed to the failure of the team this year.

Well, he tried and didn’t manage to get Anderson. In order to get Toffoli he can’t sign Tanev (and still loses Brodie). So now there’s a huge top 4 D hole. And maybe Hanifin isn’t as good either.
I think Tanev is more valuable to the team than Toffoli would have been.
