I think the trade deadline will be a good test for Treliving.
Can he get good value for pending UFAs like Ryan and Rittich? Will he get anything good for Bennett?
If so, perhaps he deserves the chance to make the core-changing trades in the offseason.
He has been pretty good with these types of trades.
And it's doubtful that Monny, Tkachuk, Gio, and Johnny will get traded in the next few weeks. More teams would be willing to bite in the offseason, which is when Treliving makes his biggest moves.
