Great spot for snowbirds though, i will agree.

Ive actually stayed out in the burbs in Vegas and it was really quite nice. The lack of real grass sucks, but its a super easy city to get around in, very affordable, and so many things to do beyond the strip and casinos. In fact I prefer the off strip places a whole lot more. Places where the locals go to have a drink and/or play are often a whole lot of fun. It sure doesnt hurt that they seem to like Canadians a lot as well.

Its a pretty cosmopolitan place actually and those claiming its mostly "lower end housing" is just plain wrong. World class dining if that's your thing, tons of recreation both indoor and out. Entertainment choices like no where in the world. Downtown is like from another world at night.

Of course it has its "bad" areas like ANY city does, but no more than most from what I have experienced.
I’ve been there plenty May to December. It doesn’t take much to get used to. And it’s not far to higher elevations either. Anyway, NHL players make enough dough to get away whenever they feel like it.
