Just lose. Don’t care, there should be no stigma attached to tanking when the season is already lost (unplanned), when the stands are already empty (unplanned). Just react to the situation you’re actually in and focus all moves towards being better next season and beyond. Are we worried about a “losing culture” setting in? It’s already here, there is nothing further to fear.

Things are bad enough you don't have to make up things that didn't happen. Flames had six more wins than the Oilers in 2014. Flames actually lost their last game and that moved them up to 4.
Also, they might have picked Bennett anyway he was ranked higher by many scouts...#1 by central scouting.
