Watching Gaudreau attempt to play "Sutter" hockey is just head shaking. Love the player but no way on earth can he play the physical style Sutter demands along the boards. What ever else happens, the player Johnny has to check IS going to simply walk by him to get where he wanted to go in the first place. All Gaudreau can do is simply poke check and as good as he is at that it ain't Sutter hockey.
Just spit ballin, but I guess my point is Gaudreau is a dynamite talent and I don't think he'll be miss-used here, much longer. I think 3 years of Darryl means JG is likely the trade bait. And he's an All Star when he's in the right environment. The league does so know how good he is and he'd get the best return.
I just think he's the wrong type of player for Sutter regardless of what the coach says.

I mentioned this exact thing when the discussion was going on about who should be the next Flames coach. This team is way too small to play Sutter hockey. Treliving is going to have to dump a number of players to emulate the Kings or the Flames teams under Sutter. It's going to require a complete overhaul of the organization as our best prospects are all small skilled players. If someone were to look at the assets in the system and then select a coach based on style that fits those assets, Darryl Sutter would never have been in the conversation. It's going be interesting to watch this playout, because the talent in the system is a mismatch to the style of hockey the coach demands. Buckle up!
