Pep was pretty bad and IMO Ed Whelan was much better at Stampede Wresting than he was Flames play by play, especially in his later years. Having said that, I'd trade all those guys for today's locals save for maybe Ball and Hrudey. I do still enjoy Boomer's morning show, as long it's hockey season and the Flames are still playing. Ed Whalen was occasionally unintentionally funny. Sometimes he would confuse players names/numbers. I remember he would call out Otto's name when it was Nieuwendyk or vice versa. Sometimes a player would dump it in for a change and he would shout "He shoots it just wide of the net!" Little things like that. I found them amusing. He wasn't perfect and I didn't go about complaining on social media because it didn't affect my life (and there was no social media).
