The Flames worked hard on Monday night. They carried the play for the most part but they were let down by two reoccurring themes.
1. Don't create enough dangerous chances so they make goalies look good
2. Forcing the play and making bad decisions resulting in odd man rushes or players out of position.
This isn't a team that doesn't care in my mind. They just don't have the horses. A Calgary Flames team with a Monahan/Gaudreau line that doesn't create any five on five offence is pretty much dead in the water.

Under Ward I think the GAF meter was in the red but under Darryl I see a higher GAF level but similar to when Iginla and Co. sometimes struggled to play under Darryl/Brent in that they are trying to play the right way which isn't always conducive to how they have had individual scoring success in the NHL. The last year Darryl coached the Flames Iginla put up only 67 points and that playoff series against the Ducks they played hard but they just had nothing on offense. I think it will come in time but there probably aren't enough games left in this season to come to fruition. They really need the powerplay to produce at times like this and it's not been good for some time.
