It was great for people working at these stores, too. I worked at an independent video store just out of high school, and a few times I've worked in jobs that have been chasing that feeling of community. An instrument store, music store, and higher end liquor store. I spent a chunk of this covid trying to get backing into taking over a craft beer/wine store partly because the dedication to make something like that work is so much easier when you have an emotional template of what you want to build.
I miss video stores in general.
