Options are limited, and since Hudler, outside of catching unexpected fire with Ferland, they’ve been drifting as a duo, looking for a third. Lindholm, for sure, but with Backlund nowhere near the offensive alternative on a second line (then, now, and especially in the future) they need Lindholm to create on his own (which he also having trouble with 5 on 5) second line offense.
Other teams can put a top checking line out on them and if their third guy can’t fight through that to either get the puck or in a spot to finish on net, they’re rendered pretty impotent.
