Gio presents a unique problem .
He apparently has earned his 20+ minutes of ice time no matter how he is playing.
According to
Hockey Stats Card that combines possession stats with actual on ice outcomes
He has had 7 Bad games and 6 Great games 6 poor games and 8 good games and 7 okay games.
That is not a great profile. The problem is that his ice time is consistent along all games . His ice time is not based on the quality of his play.
When you have your most used player being Bad or Poor in 13 out of 33 games it does not make for good playoff worthy team. and yet his 6 great games are 2nd on the Flames to Tkachuk's 8 great games and is the best number of great games by the Flames defense.
Tanev 2 great games 1 bad game
Hanifin 5 great games 2 bad games
Andersson 4 great games 11 bad games
Valimaki 3 great games 4 bad games
Valimaki , Nesterov and Kylington have not stepped up to off load some of Gio's minutes.
The Flames should be considering a move into the Elkholm / Savard bidding.
PS Brodie has 7 great game and 3 bad games
