Almost every elite goalie in the league was already a starter, or at least a 1B, by the age of 22.
Vasilevsky, Hart, Hellebuyck, Gibson, Lehner, Rask, Price, Fleury, Quick, and Bobrovsky were all regulars by 22.
Even guys like Rinne, Halak, and Elliott, all 8th round picks or later, were in the NHL by 22.
Goalies don't take as long to develop as people think. At least the good ones don't. Our very own Markstrom played in the NHL at 20. Out of the top 15 highest paid goalies in the NHL, only Martin Jones and Frederik Andersen did not play by the age of 22 (they were 23).
If Wolf spends time in the AHL, he shouldn't spend more than 1 or 2 seasons there IMO.
