I’m not arguing about if he should be called a turtle, because I think he stood up the next game and took the fight. Give him props for that. I just find it funny when Kassian get called a spot picker. IMO neither team should be saying anything. Both have players who whine to the refs, both have guys throwing slewfoots (although it seems they only do it against each other to be fair) and both have players who cross the line sometimes. Classic case of pot calling the kettle black. For both teams.
Lol - this is priceless. The argument is Tkachuck doesn't fight from Oiler fanboys. When that's proven wrong, you spot pick who he fought with arbitrary labels on his opponents. JT Miller, Lauzon, Wheeler, Kassian, Chiarot and Holl are all big boys. Neal and Perry might be old but they're both big boy and both guys who play the type of game that requires them to get in a tussle even at their age.. Bear is the only one on there that is smaller and not in the same class. The rest are all within his class of fighter. The roles Kassian and Tkachuck play on their teams are vastly different. Tkachuk isn't expected to drop the gloves as much as Kassian yet he's done so more often. Of course he doesn't fight the other team's 3rd and 4th line tough guys lol, why would he?

What does being a rookie, age or skill have to do with it anyways? Ask Ben Eager how old Gary Roberts was when he fought him? Kassian fought old man Brouwer? Iggy was fighting guys 10 years younger at his age. Same with Bill Guerin. Even Hornqvuist will drop the gloves. Regardless of your age, if you play that style of game, you get called into a few scrums.

The point is Kassian comes back from a hand injury, goes after the smallest player on the Jets and then refuses the challenge knowing that it was coming. If it was Lowry on Yamamoto (not even McDavid) Oilers fans would scream "the code". Kassian knows his role, he knows what he did on that play and he knew what was coming. But he backed down and turtled. Plain and simple. Indefensible. The guy is a fake tough guy.
