It was really a good win by the Flames. After all the goals in the first period and the Flames up 3-2 after one, that game could have very easily gone either way and even completely sideways for the Flames but it didn't and they not only hung in there but came up with a win a and a big 2 points.
They showed Brad Treliving on the screen after the game and he looked not only relieved but happy for that win.
I like Brett Ritchie but I don't think he's a 1st line player. He's got stone hands and can't handle hard passes from Gaudreau and Monahan I've noticed the last couple games. Those guys can both play in tight areas and Ritchie needs to be able to feed them but he just freezes up and the play ends.
I would try Mangiapane or even Backlund on the 1st line. I think Backlund is probably the Flames most all around skilled player, put him on offense on the top line. I get they need him to shut down other teams top line but he's good for a lot of minutes.
I was happy to see Mark Giordano get the winner.
Good game and good win to get the points and close the gap in the standings.
