Yeah that's been an issue for sure. If they see themselves as a #1 line those two need to play like it 5vs5 way more. I don't think too many teams around the league fear that line at all. They've actually improved in their own zone quite a bit ... the issue is it took all their five on five offence away.
Monahan has an expected goals against in 60 minutes of five on five hockey of 2.04, that's 8th best on the team for forwards, and a huge move for him compared to his previous seasons where he had ... 2.47, 2.36, 2.43, 2.54, 2.36 and 2.51
But is expected goals for is down to just 2.22 which is way off his 2.82 and 2.62 from 2017-18 and 2018-19
Their xGF% was never that great.
But from 2015-16 to 2018-19 (4 years) they scored 0.61 (average) more actual goals than expected. Star players outplay their expected stats, that stopped happening last year and hasn't recovered.
Big strides defensively, but the offence has completely dried up.
