I think so many players aren't pulling their weight right now that you need to be careful with this kind of assessment.
The Flames probably need to do a full rebuild at this point. However, they are intending to compete, at least for right now. Trading Tkachuk will simply make that harder.
And I'm not saying don't do it.
But if you are trading Tkachuk, it has to be because of a fundamental strategic shift in the organization's direction.
The Flames as an organization need to avoid selling low and buying high.
