He's a great player having a career year. No doubt, but until he wins something or even just consistently leads his team to the playoffs, there will always be this uncomfortable cloud that follows him. Why isn't his team winning more?

Well yeah. That uncomfortable cloud is the shape of the Oilers logo. It's a big part of the Oilers tale of futility that the best player on the earth still can't move the needle for them. Nobody in the hockey world respects the way the Oilers got him and nobody wants them to win a cup (okay Rogers does for TV ratings). Like I keep saying we are all going to like him a lot more when he's playing for a different team.
