Out of everything, that’s possibly the weirdest thing to take from this story and be upset about.
It was a pretty dismissive thing to say, people are rightly upset and latching on to it. Didn’t help that the sheriff previously shared something on social media that people are also reading as anti-asian or generally insensitive.
with the treatment of asian americans over the past year being much worse, there’s a lot of justified emotion surrounding this issue.
