I'm not putting too much stock into what happened last night, especially after they looked so good in the previous three games. They had a bad start, then recovered pretty well and played great in the 2nd. But when the wheels fell off in the 3rd with all those Oiler PPs, they just couldn't get it back on track after that. Markstrom had a bad night as well, and it seemed like every puck directed at the net went in. Just one of those nights.
As Darryl said in his post-game presser, this is a work in progress. This team was never going to magically turn things around overnight and instantly become a playoff team just because Sutter is suddenly behind the bench. It's gonna take time to iron out the bad habits, they're gonna make mistakes occasionally, and they're certainly not going to run the table.
Also, let's never forget that the Oilers are still a terrible one line team, and we all know what happens when they play against actual playoff-caliber competition. Catching them is still a possibility IMO, as they have a tougher schedule going forward.
