They just strike me as a team that reached its zenith a couple of years ago, plateaued, and will only trend slowly downward now. Better to cash in the chips they have and buy into a new table before they find themselves skint.

The Flames have lots of nice pieces, and I'm still optimistic that with the Seattle disruption and the flat salary cap that there are some good deals to be made out there. Two or three major changes might be all it takes to rebuild this team in the right direction.
At the very least it’s time to try something new. This core has been given a long leash and has proved that it’s not up to the task. At some point you just have to accept reality and realize this isn’t a Stanley cup contender or even a playoff contender.

The pieces are there to acquire some nice assets but I don’t know if Tre is the guy to do it. This roster has declined over the last several seasons and even casual observers could admit to that.

Bring in a Dean Lombardi and let him and Darryl construct this team with their vision. Change is definitely required and that should continue with the GM’s position.

My biggest concern with this team is that it lacks a real threat. Complimentary pieces are required but you can’t have an entire lineup of 2nd and 3rd liners. I really wish it would have worked with this group but it is what it is. Time to move on.
